ABOUT THE STORE
Q: What is the Trading Floor In-Game Store?
A: Accessible from inside Killing Floor 2, the Trading Floor lets players buy in-game items using funds in their Steam Wallets.
Q: What’s a Steam Wallet
A: It’s a Steam thing that holds funds for you. Find more information about the Steam Wallet here.
Q: Are store items priced in points or some other strange currency?
A: No, the Steam Wallet uses the same real-world currencies Steam currently supports. All the items in the Trading Floor are all priced in actual money.
Q: Can I trade or craft items I've purchased or found during gameplay?
A: Players can trade most items in the Trading Floor Zed-conomy. Players can also breakdown most items into crafting material that they can combine to craft new items. Details about how crafting works can be seen here. Master-Crafted items can be crafted but not recycled.
Q: Will you sell Tripwire-crafted items? What about community-made items?
A: We will sell both. Additionally, community contributors will receive a percentage of sales on items they’ve created! You can read details about that on the Killing Floor 2 Steam Workshop About page.
WHAT WILL CHANGE? (AND WHAT WILL STAY THE SAME?)
Q: Does this mean free updates are over? Are you going to stop releasing free content?
A: No, our plan is to continue updating Killing Floor 2 for years to come just as we did for Killing Floor 1. We will continue to add new perks, new maps, new zeds, and other content for free. Just as with the DLC in the first game, the money made on these items goes towards creating new (free) content, events, and whatever else we can dream up for you!
Q: Do weapon skins adjust stats of a weapon?
A: No, they are purely cosmetic.
Q: Why are you selling content in Early Access?
A: We view the Trading Floor as a feature that needs iteration just like the rest of the features in the game. Early Access is the perfect place to iterate on the Trading Floor feature with the community.
Q: Am I forced to participate in the Trading Floor Zed-conomy?
A: No, this feature is completely optional and you can play Killing Floor 2 while completely ignoring it. You will, however, receive free item drops during gameplay that you can use, trade, or sell. Or completely ignore.
Q: Will Killing Floor 2 become free to play?
A: We don’t have any current plans to take Killing Floor 2 free to play. As with KF1, our plan is for the Trading Floor to fund future free content and seasonal events that will be available to all players for years to come.
Q: What is the item rarity breakdown?
A: Cosmetic items and weapons skins come in six grades of rarity: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Exceptional, Master Crafted, and Precious. Weapon skins are further modified by their wear condition: Mint, Field-Tested, and Battle Scarred. Free item drops earned in game will be cosmetic items and weapons skins that are one of the first five grades of rarity. The sixth rarity grade is only available by opening a Horzine Supply Crate or an Encrypted Weapon Skin USB.
Q: Will all items in the Zed-Conomy drop for free?
A: No, some items will only be available from opening crates and Encrypted Weapon Skin USBs. Also, some items will only drop for free and not be found in crates. Finally, some items will be available from the in-game store that will not drop for free or be in a crate.
Q: Are there consumable items that temporarily boost a stat or perk experience gain?
A: No, there are not currently any items that will boost stats or perk experience gain. We will be listening to player feedback on whether they would like a feature like this.
Q: Will I have to spend money to remain competitive?
A: No, all of the content added in Trading Floor at launch will be cosmetic only and not affect gameplay in any way. In the future, we may add weapons with new gameplay for sale, but this will appear in the “Shared Content” area on the server. This means that if any player on the server has a special weapon, like the Chivalry Zweihander some players currently have, then every player on the server will be able to use it. No-one gets any “advantage.” KF2 is a co-op game - everyone starts out equal! Our goal is for any such weapons to be “side-grades” so they won’t provide an edge over the core weapons.
ABOUT MODDING SUPPORT
Q: Is modding dead?
A: No, we always have and always will fully support modding. We are also providing a mod-based workshop to help players easily upload and subscribe to their favorite mods.
Q: What are the differences between the curated Steam Workshop and modding subscribed Steam Workshop?
A: The curated workshop is an area where players can upload content they have created and vote for content they like, the best of which will be officially integrated into KF2 by Tripwire and added to the game client for everyone.
The subscription-based modding workshop works exactly like the workshop from the original Killing Floor. It allows players to upload mods and maps easily and players can then subscribe to mods independent of Tripwire. Players can search and download mods and maps easily. Servers can also subscribe to mods and maps, and be automatically updated when the server changes maps.
Q: What type of mods are not permitted?
A: Pretty much any type of mods are permitted, just don’t use another company's copyrighted materials or intellectual property as we will be forced to remove it. Mods can range from weapon skins and new weapons to game modes, maps, zeds or even total conversions; pretty much anything you can think of to try. Check out the KF2 EULA.
Q: Will I be able to trade items?
A: Yes, some items will be tradeable on the Steam Community.
Q: Are all items tradeable?
A: You can trade items you find during gameplay, obtain by opening a Horzine Supply Crate (wearable cosmetic accessories), or get by decrypting a USB stick (weapon skin blueprints). You can also trade items purchased from the Trading Floor In-Game Store, however there may be special items in the future that will not be tradeable. The items you obtain through completing the in game tutorial are not tradeable.
